The 7th ANGVA Biennial International conference and Exhibition (ANGVA 2017) was held in Tehran, Iran 31st. October – 2nd December. More than 700 Participants from 15 Nations attending the three-day conference and exhibition in Tehran certified that atural gas is the natural green choice for Asia pacific.

Highlights of the conference:

  •  The primary direction for future vehicle production would be vehicles powered by Natural gas especially in developing countries and Asia pacific.
  • The competitive power of diversifying the fuel economy of cars will result in the use of new technologies and improvements in the environmental performance and safety of vehicles.
  •  In order to achieve sustainable development and the optimal use of natural gas in the transport sector, the state’s serious attention to the issue of safety and the implementation of incentive policies in gas pricing is of particular importance

Consequences and Future Requirements

  • Domestic (In Iran)

1-1- The Natural gas refueling stations in Iran would be 3400 in 2020 (Iran’s 6th 5-year PLAN)

1-2- Increasing annual share of natural gas in the country’s fuel basket in the entire transportation sector by the end of the sixth development plan (2020), up to more than 35%, and provide required financing for the implementation of this plan, from the income caused by the replacement of oil products with natural gas.

1-3- Increasing the natural gas vehicles up to 8 million by the end of the perspective document year 2024.

1-4- For achieving more satisfaction and market acceptance, producing NGVs with new platform, is a mandate and should be performed by domestic car manufacturers.

1-5- Establishing customs duties & tax exemptions for imported NGVs.

1-6- Modify the price of the transportation fuel so that the price of CNG for the final consumer should be consistently less than 30% of the gasoline price.

1-7- To emphasize the inspection of natural gas refueling stations and vehicles to improve the level of their services and safety.

1-8- To develop the international interactions and exports of CNG equipment

1-9- Establishing a National Designated Authority with participating of all government and private stakeholders as a national decision-making body, including NIOC, the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade, the Standards Organization, the Department of Environment, Natural Gas Vehicles’ NGOs and other relevant unions, with the goal of sustainable development of NGVs and Natural gas refueling stations in the country.

1-10- To develop usage of Natural Gas in Virtual Pipeline (VPL) and Mother-Daughter System for villages and industries in the form of CNG and LNG.

1-11- More effort for using capacity of Article 12 of the law of eliminates obstacles to competitive production and promotes the country’s financial system for joint investment in NGVs development plans.

1-12- In all contracts of domestic car manufacturers and Ministry of Industry, mine and trade, with foreign car manufacturers, a reasonable share of NGVs should be considered.

1-13- Creating a suitable platform for sustainable development of branding (Petroleum and CNG Distributors Network) by contributing of private and public sector, modifying the implementation methods and benchmarking.

1-14- The retrofit conversion of existing gasoline vehicles should be approved and strictly controlled through standards and regulations

1-15- Increasing and developing the public transport natural gas fleets, including, Autobuses, minibuses, public and private pickups and vans in accordance with the sixth development plan, allocating at least 30% of heavy vehicle manufactures’products to natural gas-fueled, with participation of municipalities and the Ministry of Industry Mine and trade.

1-16- Increasing the interaction of authorities and government agencies with trade unions and the private sector.

1-17-To define a master and execution plan in order to use natural gas as fuel of trucks fleet.

1-18- Establishing a CNG Industry Support Fund for Reconstruction and Recovery of CNG Refueling stations and Vehicles to Support CNG National Project Objectives.

  •  ANGVA:

2-1-  Revising  the strategy of ANGVA in order to play more effective role in Asia Pacific to reinforce and support members effectively on public awareness, training, NGV statistics management , safety, export network, government negotiation and consultancy

2-2- To promote and encourage free flow of trade between ANGVA  country members to increase NGV Industry related businesses between members

2-3- ANGVA would become the hub of research and development in Asia Pacific in 2025

2-4-To encourage car manufacturers in ANGVA  country members to produce 100 % natural gas vehicles and  Natural gas-electric hybrids vehicles

2-5- To emphasize the inspection of natural gas refueling stations and vehicles to improve the level of their services and safety in ANGVA country members

2-6- Encouraging partnership between ANGVA  member countries to develop more efficient natural gas vehicles technology and refueling infrastructure

2-7- To persuade ANGVA member countries  states for freely share  knowledge and experiences  to promote high quality and efficient city and intercity fleets

2-8- Creating database about capabilities of all

ANGVA members and their companies and Sharing this database and information between members

2-9- To create a section for tenders and auctions that are related to the NGV industry on the ANGVA website

2-10- To create   technical capabilities for holding webinars and online conferences on the ANGVA website (in order to share the Best Practices and success stories, etc.)
